Hopefully tonight was my last mow with the old Craftsman lawn tractor.  The hydrostatic transmission is tired and it has other issues.

What it does have is a great Kohler 18hp twin Magnum vertical shaft.  The fuel pump died last year and was replaced with an electric, otherwise I believe the engine to be in very good condition.  No hour meter on the tractor but I'm guessing 50 hours/year X 19 years = 950 hours.  Gives a little puff of smoke on cold start so the valve guides may leak a little oil.

I'm planning to put the tractor on Craigslist for $100 when the new zero turn arrives.  If anyone here wants it for the engine you can have it for $80.  Deal is you have to pick up (just West of Detroit) and take the whole tractor with it.  It will drive and mow.

If anyone wants to mow with it it's got a serviceable 46" mulching deck and I have a set of brand new mulching blades to go with it.  You might get a season out of the transmission if your lawn is relatively flat.  You can forget pulling anything with it.

They can be converted to horizontal...  I haven't done it but I bought a tractor with a completed conversion.

I have one in the Shop. If you come down for the tractor show in June 18th I probably will still have it.

WOW!

I put this tractor on craigslist tonight at $120.  Pointed out transmission was pretty much shot.  In addition to the usual craigslist crap offering to buy it for scrap etc. I got six legitimate inquiries in under two hours.

Guess I didn't ask enough.

You're not missing out on anything.  It's had a very hard life.

Looks pretty nice after a bath though.

Ok, it's gone and I've got $100 in my pocket.

How do I mark this sold?
