Never used a chain coupler with a u joint.
Do you have room to put a set of pillow blocks an intermediate shaft in there!
So, if I understand correctly, you're suggesting I put a pillow block bearing across the frame, and have it support the driveline coming from the chain coupler, then put a U-joint and the rest of the shaft on the other side??
It may be doable, but the shaft is only about 19 inches long now, plus has an angle from the crankshaft to the hydro... I'll have to pull the fender pan off and look at that more closely.
I was pretty sure I couldn't use the chain coupler with a U-joint, but wanted confirmation. With that in mind, what I hope to do is to perhaps machine off the sprocket teeth, then machine a ring to go on the hub, then have it welded it place, then make another piece to bolt into the ring with a U-joint on it and run the driveline from there. I'm working on the drawing for it now--I'll post it when I get it finished.
Thanks for the input...
