Howdy folks!

This weekend I installed my 50 inch  deck on my  ford 145 LGT repower. Although it's a repower, it is an original PTO mounted in the original position- so the belts should be the same as original.  I haven't used the deck  in on over 5 years. Greeeeeezed up the bearings and mower deck wheels, sharpened my blades, installed the mule drive, and my old belts. Even mowed the front lawn!

The "PTO to deck"  belt is stretching and about to give up the good fight. The deck belt itself is good and I have an extra.

I went to my collection of misfit belts. The only part number I have written down  is a new holland 856179935 in the original cardboard belt holder- which I labelled as "deck belt", which I would assume would mean literally- DECK BELT,  but in this "deck belt" holder is  stashed an even older dry rotted  "pto-deck belt", so in my infinite wisdom,  I don't know if that's a deck belt or a pto-deck belt number.  :wallbanging:

Does anyone know what the number or length for a 50 inch pto-deck belt is? I  did a search on this site but only came up with 42 pto-deck belt lengths. As I recall, the 50  is slightly different than the 42 inch, but I cold be wrong. From my childhood, I seem to recollect trying to stretch 42 belts onto a 50 (pto-deck), but they were slightly short and would stretch the mule pully spring bigtime and still not fit.  I could be wrong. After all, it WAS  30 years ago!  :D

Any info appreciated. Thanks!

Ron

Thirty years ago should be easy to remember. Its 30 minutes ago that is a problem. I just picked up a 50 lnch deck with hanger. I'll go see if there is a belt with it. Good Luck, Rick

No belt.

Thanks! - and please don't work too hard on this. Worst case scenario, I could go get my current belt measured, but it's beginning to stretch, so I don't know how accurate it is. Also with my carnac powers of infinite wisdom, the dry rotted "pto-deck belt" I have stashed in the "deck belt" box- I can't remember if that was from an older 42 inch deck I have.

Your "30 years ago" comment is right on the mark! LOL

Ok just saw the "no belt"- thanks for looking!

With age comes wisdom and goes memory. Did you try the Manuals Section? Good Luck, Rick

I'll be darned:

According to manual:

42 inch-78.36 inches long

50 inch- 82.62 inches long

(Sad I overlooked that EARLIER TONIGHT)

(Happy my recollection of 30 years ago was SPOT ON!)

Thanks a bunch!

Ron
