Got bad news tonight. My little pom has had bladder stones twice and two surgeries. He went for his check up tonight and they are back. Doctor won't do another surgery. He wants him to go to the Columbus Ohio animal hospital for a consult. I am torn. It's 300 for him just to be seen and who knows what the alternative treatment costs. We have tried diet and pills but they keep coming back. I am at a loss. He has been in my life for 10 years. He is my little buddy. He said if I don't take him there then to wait 6 months and see how much change there is.

I just can't do it. I can't take that little guy there and wait for the news that they are worse then put my little guy down when he looks so healthy.

All I can say is this sucks, and is exactly the reason I won't have anymore dogs. I sat down after getting him back to my mom's and cried, I think that's the first time I have cried in years.

I understand, have not had a dog since Scooter (Scottish Terrier) chased a truck and caught it. Both kids were in the yard and saw it.

Hurts enough I quit.

Our pets become a very close, important part of our families.

I understand your dilemma with your little dog.

Hope you can come to a rational decision on how to best deal with his medical problems.

I am thinking about you and your pet.

They become our four pawed kids in fur coats. Coda died 7 years ago. It hurt too much. Maybe a change to your guys' diet will help. I had to cut out dairy products to prevent my kidney stones from comming back. Good Luck, Rick

Get another opinion from a another local vet.  I have learned a lot of these Vets are all about $$$.  Also see if there are any herbalist or naturalist in your area they may be abler to help.

Thanks for the support. I think I am going to spend the 300 and just see. If I don't I'll always wonder. Even if he only gets another year or two Ill know in my heart I did everything I could.

He is on special food that us supposed to stop these things. But I was talking to my mom and said what if they formed before his new food and that's why they aren't advanced this time as they were last time.

Too many variables. Maybe it's just wishful thinking but I don't know.

Sorry to hear.  I lost one last June, and took it real hard. She was 16 1\2.  My other  one had a liver problem and had two $500 operations to correct it, but didn't.  Had to take her 3 1\2 hours away to a vet. hospital 3 times.  Another $4500.  That was 7 years ago and doing fine with medication and special dog food.  She is 10 1\2 now.  I would do it all over again if I had too.  Very special buddies my doxies.

I have spent a ton on him in the last 10 year. 2000 for 4 screws and a plate in his leg. 2200 for two bladder surgeries and few other things

It's hard

I have always had dogs and pets and will most likely never go without.  the best way to look at it is that there are so many animals out there that would love to be your friend that it is our duty to give them a home of we can.  besides it is a proven fact that having pets makes you live longer

.  good luck with you dog.

Sorry you have to through this. Our Jack Russell developed a cancerous tumor a couple of months ago. I was just sick when I discovered it. She is doing great now and we are glad we had her taken care of,

Best of luck to you.

Our four legged kids are as much a part of our families as is our own flesh and blood kids. They depend on us as we depend on them. We love them and they unconditionally love us back. Our neighbors a great friends just lost their scotty dog " Buddy" to cancer. This was their third scotty and it them and truthfully us very hard. Sending out good thoughts and prayers for you and you furry kid. Good luck.                                                                                    Roger

Aaron, thinking about you, your family and your furry kid.
I feel your pain and hope everything works out as best it can
I fondly remember each of our previous dogs.
I loved them, confided in them, and miss them still, but they wouldn't want me to be lonely...
After all, what's a boy without a dog to love?
Flower
Angie
Keno
Nikki
Scooby
Moakie
Foxy
Remmy
And now Libby.
