I finally got my "new to me" GTX 20 home yesterday and am now trying to learn when it was built.

The tag under the hood has:

Model 14076-12 and S/N 14076 12 00629
(note under the seat on the fender the tag reads Model 13076-12)

The engine is the Kolar vee CH 20S
S/N 2831S03241 Code 1F128H90035 Spec 64529

So can anybody shed any light as to when this was built?

Thanks,
Dan

The correct model is 13076. The engine is date coded 1998 and the 13076-12 is 1999, so I feel confident to say 1999.

ClassicBolens,

Thanks for the response, 1999 should put it roughly in the middle of the GY production years, hopefully before they reduced quality.

Any idea why the 2 different Model numbers, 13076 vs 14076?

Not that it matters, I'm anxious to start using this machine, it's sure larger than my old 116 JD

How about a pix?  I'm not familiar with this newer tractor, can't place it in my  mind.  I have that same engine in my Power Kings, nice running rig.

The Troybilt GTX is identical to the Bolens DuraTrac series. Very nice looking tractors and very well built.

This is a lot larger than my old JD 116.

Not in as good of condition as I had hoped, but not bad, only 365 hrs.

Came with a 2 stage snowblower that needs a bit of work, but it's there.

As for the M/N - S/N - interesting that both the M/N and S/N on the tag on the hood have the 14076-12, wonder if it's just this one or if others have this misprint?

I'm sure yours is likely not the only one with the misprint. Little goof ups like this were actually quite common after everything moved to Troy from Port Washington. The model 14076 is for a Troybilt or Gardenway 10 cubic foot utility dump cart. Not to be confused with the model 14067 which is the push frame kit for your snow thrower or snow blade.  :wallbanging:   :wallbanging:      :D

:))   This explains real quick how/why you knew it was a mistake.

Mistakes like this don't leave one feeling good about a Company though.

Makes one wonder what else will be wrong.

With that said, I'm still looking forward to getting to know and using this tractor.
