Repowered a 782 with a M18. How do I wire this to work properly.

Did you have a donor tractor or just the engine?

If you have the donor tractor swap the entire harness and electrical.  I recently went that route swapping the engine from a 1810 into a 782.

If you just had the engine and the wiring hook up is different then I can't be much help at this point.

Let me go look at my kt 17 and compare to the m18.  I'll also check for a schematic.   Rick

Found a couple schematics.

MyKT17 has two black wires at plug in for the engine. One went to the coil ( on top of the engine) the other went to a module (voltage regulator) mounted on the shroud.

The M18 had a green wire that went to the oil pressure unit, a black wire that went to the module (voltage regulator), and a white wire that went to the coil, or magneto  (inside the shroud).  Hope this helps.  Rick

I am trying to use the 782 wiring. The 1811 it came out of wasn't wired correctly and was a wiring hack job. I was told I need a relay, I am trying to figure out what I need to make this engine run and charge like it should

Isn't KT17 Battery ignition with coil and the M18 was Magneto, no points and coil?   Thought that was major diff?  That would need a diff key then too?  Maybe this is too knew and has much more wiring than I'm thinking.

Which of those are for a Magnum 18? When I put the M18 in Alice, I used the wiring diagram in the owners manual for it.

None of the info I found told which engine.  It only showed above and below a certain serial number for each model.

The first four are 782 , the last two are 1811.

I once swapped an m18 from a 682 to a 782 and changed the harness with it because they were different .

You either need to install a relay or use a different ignition switch. An Internet search should take you to a couple different examples on how to add in the relay. I'm at work otherwise I would post a pic of the wires rerouted through the relay.

I have the relay installed, I am waiting for the correct keyswitch. I know the m18 ran, and only has 27hrs. But the Walboro WNG carb sucks so I want to get a new carb
