It is the contactor relay switches I believe, Sparky will correct me if I'm wrong, cause he rebuilt it.

What would be the best modern electronic controller to use on the E20?

It would be a Alltrax, they have them already GE Elec Trak compatible and sell them thru the Electric Tractor Store. Then Kelly Controls can set on up their controllers to be compatible too.

Basically the key and a smaller set of relays are the " gatekeepers " to the switches in the foot throttle activating startup and speed control solenoids shown under the dash.

So how many amps does an E20 draw?
I understand that in one position, same as Cruz at low speed, the motor is basicaly connected to the battery pack with no dropping resistors or field weakening applied, which gives max power, torque and efficiency. What would the max amp draw be under those conditions?

The 20 looks just like a New Idea 120 except the front axle on the GE is further back. We had both front and mid mount New Idea mowers at one time. The electrical under the dash looks similar. I think I mounted the rear axle from a GE to the New idea I had rebuilt last and it fit. Think I will venture to the barn and take photo's tomorrow. All my stuff has been stored inside.

Doug, nothing is happening with it right now. I am kinda boxed in right now, none of my tractors can get in or out of the shop. Hopefully in the spring I will have some tractors going again.
