My Cub 123 has manual hydro release valves. Can these be replaced with the automatic type? So I can just push tractor around without using lever on the side?

There's a fella on Ebay that rebuilds them for $40 each.If your looking for some that might be your cheapest option.

He's done thousands of them so I would trust them to last for a long time.

Just my two cents...I have installed them in my 149 and 1250. Nice to have the upgrade, you'll be glad you did. Later model Quietline's came with auto dump valves, my 1250 is a 1975 model which had the manual.
