I cant find what ignition solenoid i have have my Gilson manual says PART# 31285 also ignition switch PART#36457.. In many cross reference manuals I get lawn boy numbers and there crazy priced like 110.00 a piece. Any help would be gratly appreciated. Also spaecs are 1979-80 dont really know what year gilson/montgomery ward 33424 Hydrostatic drive with 16 HP twin briggs and stratton engine. I would also live with a push button start but do not under stand the pole connection on switch and selenoid I already toaster one magneto-coil lol and decided I needed to ask for help I do have all required manuals and books.

Member wvbuzzmaster has an older gilson. It's a smaller unit I believe, but he may be able to help. Many of the electrical parts are interchangeable between brands, it's possible you will find a cheaper alternative.

I know on my older wards 15 hydro's starter solenoid (which I think you are talking about) was no good when I got it. It looked alot like a ford starter relay That I have used alot. So I mounted a ford starter relay Standard motor products part number ss581 to it and it works like a dream. hope this helps.
