ok been trying to match the paint on the H 14. I tried a base white witch is too white, I tried a ivory white witch was to dark, now I tried a Oxford white witch is still very white. I see what the doc has been talking about when it comes to expense on paint when trying to get the right color. Any help would be great.

You could take a piece to a supplier that can color scan for you. Or take a look at Ford Wimbledon White. Or take the Oxford White and start adding small amounts of plain white by the same manufacturer to assure compatibility until you get to a color that looks right to you.

I think Rustoleum Canvas White was discussed a few years ago. I think Bolens tried several different whites over the years. I'm color blind so I have to listen to others. Good Luck, Rick

I did some searching when i painted my H14 and was told that the white used is David Brown Orchid White which is an off white colour.  I painted mine this colour and it looks spot on.  I believe that David Brown Tractors had some involvement with Bolens and i am led to belive that the brown used on the earlier Bolens Chassis is David Brown Chocolate Brown.  If you've stuck for any other colours look at the David Brown Tractor Colours as i think Bolens used their early red colour.  This is the colour i used on my snowblower.

If you have seen an HT23 or any of the Eliminators the canvas white is a dead match to those machines. I did mine in canvas white. If you can see an HT23 or Eliminator in person you may be able to decide if the canvas white is a close match to the H14.

Dave,

That's very useful info. I assume my early H16 would be the same colour code as your H14?

Looks superb your H14 by the way!

Cheers

Andrew

Hi Andrew

I am quite confident your H16 should be the same colour as my H14.  I'm using this colour on all of my tractors and would definitely recommend it and its always readily available.

Dave, thanks for confirming the paint. I assume the wheels would be the same colour white as the body?

Cheers

Andrew
