I am trying a new method to me for starting potatoes. This may be common knowledge, but I was told by a potatoe farmer where I live, to green sprout your potatoes before planting them. This will give them a head start, before planting, like starting plants in a green house, I guess.
These are Irish cobblers, I put them in front of the patio door about two weeks ago. The sprouts are coming nicely. So when you plant, just cut them up and plant like you normally do. About three to four inches deep. I am spacing my rows wider this year, so I can till inbetween the rows for weeds. I am also plant the potatoes about 2 feet apart. Plants will dry out quicker, so less chance of blight, hope fully.

Nice to have those sprouts going good when you plant.  The seed we got had nice sprouts on them already, some nearly 1/2" long but most were just starting good.
