I found a CL listing for an Ariens S series. It shows that it has tilt steering which I wasn't aware that Ariens ever put on. Also, it is a 12 horse with GT series decals on the good. Did they make a GT-12? I am starting to think it might be a repainted New Holland. Any thoughts?

Can you get the owner to tell you what tranny is in it?
Didn't they use different trannies?

It is a '71 new holland painted like an Ariens. I found one the same way. They repainted it back then to have a tractor that looked new without the cost of new. Farmers did it on big tractors too, that's why you see John Deere's that were solid green when new get the yellow stripe

You can look for serial tag on frame new holland tags were metal. Mine was taken off when repainted

Sorry to blow this thread up, but it could be a 12 or a 14. 12s only came with manual lift I think and 14s were hydraulic

I was sent a picture of the tag last night. It says it's a Sperry Rand S-12. You have a good thought about the lift, that is one that I missed. So now it's still a slight puzzle to me.

Thanks for the info 1964Deere. It was what I was guessing. My first thought was it is a repaint. The second thought was. Well now, is there a model out with those options that I didn't hear of before.
