Sometimes these things just fall in my lap and I have no self control whatsoever to just walk away. So in the past week I grabbed a super nice 1050 and an early Ride-a-Matic.

The 1050 is a one owner machine, with very little use. It was part of an estate liquidation and the story goes that that guy was having the carb rebuilt by a mower repair place that went out of business. He never got the carb back and the tractor has been sitting for close to 25 years. The hood and fender pan show some very mild orange rusting as a result of sitting, but there's no "rot" or prickly rusting. The rims, tires, underneath, shift knobs etc. are all in amazing shape. It's super dirty, but with a good detailing should look great. I also was able to locate a carb which should be now on its way. Along with the tractor, is a super solid 48" deck and a NOS snow cab. The roof and one side panel got chewed by mice, but the doors were still in the Bolens boxes. I'm not quite sure what the plans are for it. I'll have to wait and see how it runs.

The Ride-a-Matic just got here today from Ohio. Its an original machine with factory Bolens sickle bar. Supposedly it "runs" but only on choke. It has the original Kohler K161. I haven't had a chance to fiddle with it or clean it either.

I have no idea on years etc. for either and am hoping I can get some info. If anyone knows, please feel free to chime in.

1050: (Model 1 02) (serial 40197)
Ride-a-Matic: (type 220 01) (serial 35570)

I can't help you with the years and I am sure after the Bolens guys wipe the drool off their keyboards they can give you the information you are looking for. They are two very nice Bolens garden tractors. I love the sickle bar mower on the Ride-A-Matic

You have two very nice original tractors. This link will help you find the years of your tractor's. Your model tags need to be readable though.

Congratulations on cornering two nice original Bolens tractors.

The 1050 (Model 192-01) was manufactured in 1966. 1050's were sold for the 4 years from 1966 through 1969. 1967-69 were Model 192-02.

The Ride-a-Matic (Model 220) was manufactured in 1958. Model 220 was a single year tractor. The next year the Ride-a-Matic was Model 230.

Those tractors are in great condition!
Looks like the 1050 is a 1969 model.

As Doug said above the ride-a-matic is a 1958 and that retailed for around $490 then.

Both tractors are very nice looking! Congratulations. I noticed your 1050 has a black steering wheel. I like it.. All of the brochures I have seen, which included the 1050, have always shown a white steering wheel. In the 1969 brochure line-up photo, its white. Because your model number ends in -02, I'd say a 1967 thru 1969. But in 1969, Bolens started using the black steering wheels on other models. I am going out on a limb here, but am leaning towards a 1969. Thats if it is the orginal installed steering wheel? But then again, the dealer could have replaced the orginal wheel at a later time? I can only say for sure, it falls in the 1967 to 1969 years.

I'm quite certain its a 1969 due to the decals, black steering wheel and color of the hood and fenders.

If you get the serial #'s off the engine we can know for sure.

Thanks for the info guys! Much appreciated. I'll take a look tonight and post the serial #'s off the motor. I know it's a model TRA-10D because when I was hunting for the carb I wrote it down.

As the result of another purchase yesterday, I'm deciding to sell the 1050 and keep the Ride-a-Matic. I have a really nice carb to go with it.

It also comes with a super solid mower deck and NOS snow cab. The cab doors were still in the tattered Bolens boxes. The roof of the cab has a few tears from improper storage, and the front filler panels have some minor chew marks from what must have been mice. The doors are really sweet though less one small crack in one of the side windows. It is what it is.

And I also have an extra u-joint and few miscellaneous NOS parts in the original Bolens packages.

I'm asking $550 as it sits and might be a little negotiable. If I don't get any activity and have to invest time to rebuild the carb etc. then I'm probably going to sit firm and/or maybe try to get a little more. I'm a fair guy though, so if you're interested, lets talk. The tractor is in Rocky Hill, CT, which is about 10 minutes south of Hartford.

Here are some additional pics after a quick bath.

Thanks,
Matt
