I was reading olcowhand's posts about his dad. Thought I'd put this out as a prayer request:

I have a friend, Michael. He's 28, and has had muscular dystrophy since he was 7 or so. I've known him for about 8 years, and he's been confined to a wheelchair all that time. His father, Jerry, passed away last August due to cancer. His mother, Sharon, is a jewel of a woman and has taken care of Michael in the best of ways. Michael was taken to the hospital this past Saturday because of breathing problems. The MD has ravaged his body, and he cannot breathe on his own now without the help of a respirator. Every breath he takes is a struggle, and he's fading fast. He is coherent and will converse with you, and he knows that we got Osama! But, he has decided that he does NOT want a tracheotomy, and it had been decided that if he's not improving by Wednesday morning, he'll be given something to relax him, then he'll be taken off of the respirator. I know he won't last long, and he'll eventually suffocate. What a terrible way to go. But, he IS a Christian, he led his dad to the Lord, and he KNOWS he'll be in a better place real soon. Please pray for him. He's a real trooper!

Ever since I've known Michael, it seems like if I ever thought I was having problems, he'd come to mind. Thankfully, I can say my problems have never quite measured up to his. And, I have NEVER heard him complain!

He certainly has my thoughts & prayers. It is something miraculous that someone with so many difficulties never complains of their ailments. Prayers for you also NRA....you may be losing a friend.

NRA , My prayers are with Him & His Family & Friends.
Whenever I hear of a Brave young person like this, A True Angel among us, I am allways reminded of one of my favorite sayings,
"Never Complain of Growing Old, For many Are Denied the Privilege."

You and he will be in my prayers as well NRA! It's peculiar that I was thinking what a rotten day I'd had and kinda feeling sorry for myself. I should count the many, many blessings that I have and be thankful for each moment. Thank you for the inspiring story. You could have just asked for prayer and we'd all have been glad to do so. Instead you have helped us to see what we tend to take for granted. May God bless your friend and give him the peace he has never known, and may He give you comfort in your time of need!

Thanks, to all of you! I hope to see Michael and his mother later this evening and I will certainly let them know of the prayers coming from my friends on GTTalk. Tomorrow will probably be a bitter-sweet day. Sad to see him go, but ecstatic for him in many other ways. He'll definitely be remembered on my list of angels who have crossed my path!

Man is that a tough thing to see a friend pass on like this. I've lost friends before, but never in this way, knowing it is coming, and I feel for you my friend.
