Hi everyone, I was wondering if anybody knew of the original prices of the Ford/Jacobsens when they first came out.

I have an LGT145(open side) that I got from its original owner. He gave me a bunch of papers with it. I'll see if the original reciept is in there. That would be newer than yours. but in the ballpark. Good Luck, Rick

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anybody knew of the original prices of the Ford/Jacobsens when they first came out.

I looked through the file but there was only receipts for parts. I would guess that the basic tractor was a little over $1000. In 1968 a brand new basic Mustang was $2350.

In our Manuals Section are some original receipts for various tractors. They are spread throughout the files. Good Luck, Rick

Wow! That is a lot of money for one tractor. Especaly when you could by a mustang for just $1000 more. If you think about now a lawn mower is up and over $3000 Do you think the Ford 100 cost more than a Jacobsen 1000?

Similar tractors with different names were close in price. A 1970 Bolens Large frame with an FEL and a few other attachments cost more than a new Chevy Nova.

The machines were well built and meant to last. You used to get quality when you paid for it. Good Luck, Rick

On my LGT 145 I received the quote sheet when they where shopping for the tractor. This was in 1975. They started this with a 12 HP with the 4 speed transmission, List was $1675 & net was $1295. The 42" mower deck list was $251 & net was $200. Adding the Hydrostatic transmission added list $260 & net $200 for the 12HP. The 14 HP add $490 for list & net. So the 14 HP would be $2416 list & $1985 net. The 42" Snow Blower list $365 list & $325 net. The 48" Trip Dozer Blade list $147 & net $130. The 36" Tiller with PTO list $584 & net $515. The rear lift hitch is $51.13 extra for the net price of the tiller. I remember that my 1974 F100 pickup truck purchased new was $3500

The cost on a bare bones 1973 Dodge Challenger shipped and delivered to Edmonton was around 4300 CAD. According to the original invoice.

However, I always wanted to know what the original costs were like on these tractors. It would be interesting to see what the current values would be after inflation
