Yes, 12V battery powers the coil. The pickup ring & module serves as a breaker.

Thanks for that!!!

Something I also noticed is the different flywheels. The p224 flywheel center protrudes out farther. That would make my driveshaft pulleys not sit in the correct spot causing belt alignment issues. Going to swap on another flywheel from a B series engine I have. Looks like it should be a painless change over. Although the shroud will not line up correctly after the swap. This might take some modifications. The B series shrouds are too narrow for the big block so I'm stuck using the p224 shroud.20171007_210804.jpg

I've swapped the flywheels before for the same reason, but my tins were interchangeable, so it worked great.  The flywheels should interchange for you, but you will have that gap.

This being a loader tractor, things flying around would be less. I'd be more concerned if it had a mower deck under it. I'm gonna run it with the gap until I find the correct one. I'll just have to pay more attention to keeping the head tins cleared out.

I had a little time today. Managed to install the stator and correct flywheel. Doesn't seem like much but getting closer. At this point, it's pretty much starter and tins left.20171009_222030.jpg 20171009_223131.jpg

Made a little progress last night and tonight. Works been busy so I've been too tired to work on things. Plus, trying to squeeze in some fishing trips before winter truly sets in and I have to winterize my boat. Got the engine in. Tried the hood. I thing by bending a few spots around the heads, it'll close without issue. Right now, it doesn't but will be amended.

After setting the engine, I had to sort the throttle control. This engine was on a sawmill so clearly the hand control on the engine will not work. After drilling one hole, I was able to add an Onan throttle and governor spring. Next comes wiring!!20171102_224631.jpg

It's alive!!!! and wow does she have some power now. This should've been a factory option. Here's a couple pics and a video.

Got the muffler exit squared away.20171106_212341.jpg 20171106_212336.jpg
Now need to tackle wrapping the hood around. And I'm not being sarcastic. The p224 is 3" overall wider. The B43 was close to the hood. It hits this one. Also, air cleaners are completely different. The shroud inside the hood had to be trimmed. Then I took an adjustable wrench and slowly massaged the lip around the bottom out until it cleared the head.
received_362605400845484.jpeg
And here ya go. It's on. Main issue that I missed is the height of the muffler. The tip barely made it out and really high. The hood is touching the muffler. I plan to paint this so that will be an issue. An issue I'll address after this weekend's plowday. I can cut and shorten each header and get a better placement. The more I look at it, after dropping the muffler down away from the hood. I might add to the tip and turn it down to the ground, past the pump. Instead of out the front.

I got one more issue I wanna tackle with this machine. The one thing every loader tractor should have, power steering. I got a donor machine. Just need the time. Stay tuned..................

And then finally I might install the pretty dash decal I got from Limebuzz!!

If economy was my intent, it would be a Honda. Power is the goal here. I plan to have an extra can just for this machine haha.
