I just sent one of our members a link to a manual we are not able to have on this site.

He got back to me and stated that when he clicked the link I sent him that Dropbox wanted to install a bunch of stuff on his Dads computer.

I have never had this happen before.  Has anyone else heard of this happening?

Did the person you sent the file to have dropbox on their computer? I've heard that if they don't have it, it tries to get them to install it. Maybe that's what happened.

I also think you need to have it installed. I remember installing it on my system when those files were originally uploaded.

It will ask you to install or sign up or both but there should be a way to just go to the file and download it anyway.

Thanks for all your comments.  I PMed him again and he told me he did go ahead and try to download, but aborted the download due to it taking a long time.  I suspect that in far northern Canada the internet speed may be a bit slow.

I think he has it figured out.  Told me he was on the phone during the download.
