Today while I was rebuilding the deck on the JD 285, my neighbor said " I wish I could afford a machine like this". I thought for less than a minute. I said Bill this is your tractor. I gave it to him. I told him if he bought the deck bearings, that he could have it. He gladly gave his CC info to the dealer who is shipping the bearings. It made me feel good to do it. He has an old Murray LT that is on its last leg, and being a retired vet, hes on fixed income. I have more than enough tractors. The lord has blessed me with the ability to fix anything i want to fix. My old buddy needed a good tractor so I fixed him up. The only string is that it couldnt be sold for any reason. So now Im on the hunt for another tractor from this series.

That was very nice of you Matt. It is always nice when we can help a Veteran. Our system pushes them aside while illegals and others abuse the system. Good luck on the hunt for the replacement.

I second that. I will say as a decent human being and a vet myself, this story nearly brought me to tears.

Matt that was a nice gesture. If I can help my neighbors out with my small engine and tractor knowledge I usually do.

Matt, darn nice of you! I agree that our vets should always be treated with respect.

Matt, that was a very decent and kind thing you did. As they say, nice guys finish last. There is awfully good company at the back of the line.

Matt, as a vet myself, thank you for the kindness you have bestowed on your neighbor. I'm sure he will be very grateful and most happy with his 'new' mower.
