Got the radio playing in the background in my Office at work, and I caught a news blurp about Husqvarna now having a smart phone app that will allow you to mow your yard from any where in the world!

I don't own or use a smart phone ....... But if this is true ....... naa cant be.

OMG it is true!

Description

My Automower iPhone app is unique and designed specifically to work with a Husqvarna Automower. The application enables an Automower owner to control up to five unique mowers from a distance using their iPhone. Through simple SMS messaging, you can send instructions that will give you complete remote access. The app is also useful for those who don’t own one yet but are interested in learning more of the robotic mowing concept.

Note! The remote functionality requires a GPS communication unit with a SIM card installed by your local dealer. The application does not work together with Automower 330X GPS navigation unit.

More app functionalities:
- Display the location of your Husqvarna Automower on a map
- Use shortcuts to send instructions and take control of your Automower
- Tell your machine when to start mowing
- Tell your Automower when to stop and return for charging
- Set timers
- Check your Automower current status
- Measure the slope of your lawn and advise on suitable models
- FAQ – all the basics you need to know about using and maintaining your Automower
- Helpful videos on how to install and use the product
- Locations of Husqvarna Automower dealers all over the world

When I hear about auto-mowers, always think of that Jerry  Lewis  movie that had those in a yard and they chased the bad guys around and eventually were eating at there rears!  Looked like electric shavers!  That was Long ago!  SO, how can these be safe if not a perfectly flat, clear yard?  They see and drive around things? Bump into them and just go another direction like those vacumns  now out?  Can they really mow in a complete pattern?  What about things in way, toys, dogs, kids?  I don't get it. What kind of speed for these?  This stuff Osha approved??  Just don't seem right to me.

I first envisioned a full size remote controlled zero-turn, The automower would be good to mow the shag carpet in the living room.

Just remember all that smart phone stuff is made by the Chinese.  Who knows what all is programmed into them.  What is going to happen when they decide to take control of their own work?

That's neat.  Them Husqy auto mowers have been around for a long time.  Looks like the technology has now grown to control them remotely.  My dealer buddy actually had one of them in his store a few years ago.  I think you need deep pockets for one if I remember right they were not cheap.
