I started having problems with my back and leg (sciatica) last summer and it is messing with my ability to punch a time clock. Have decided to try making a few bucks with my GT hobby. Have posted ads seeking to rescue old fixer-upper garden tractors from barns and fields to tinker with and resell. Bought two Massey Ferguson collections. Rough looking stuff, but plenty of use left. Hoping you folks will help me determine fair asking prices. This is near Sault Ste Marie, MI.

Collection B is an MF 1200 with attachments. Tractor ran well until something wore a hole in gas tank. The PO couldn't find another tank, and had other tractors to use, so this sat outside forgotten. Figure it as a parts unit that could be repaired. Comes with sleeve hitch, 3650 tiller, 4210 deck that is rusty and appears to have a bad spindle, 4220 snow thrower, and 4230 dozer blade (currently on tractor).  Attachments are solid, other than mower deck, and appear complete. I also have books for everything.

I don't want to be greedy and sit on these for a year. Would like to make a few bucks and get them into the right hands. What should I ask for this collection? Thanks in advance. Paul

Hard to put a price on them.  Kind of depends on what you have in the deal, how much you would like to make and what someone is willing to pay.

I would put a price on things that you come up with the profit you would like.

That's quite a nice lot of equipment. All probably need some attention, but a he'll of a start.

The price depends a lot on how many Massey owner are in the area.  They are a little rough won't bring a good price if people have to travel a long way to get them.  You can always come down in price but real hard to go up unless you add something to the deal.

Why do people let stuff sit out like that?

I would put a price on the tractor/deck and say the other attachments can be thrown in for more money. I would also get it running to show it runs....that much improves the price

I do this also because I got laid off I do small engine work and buy and sell lawn mowers and tractors. The fast money is more in the mtd type lawn mowers the garden tractors. Take longer to sell because you pretty much need to sell them to people like us on here the lawn mowers everyone buys up. And if your like me . The good garden tractors you will never get your money and time out of them if you want to make them nice to sell .

I should probably make it clear that I'm not interested in selling parts. I want this whole collection to go as a group.

I hope to get the 1200 running this weekend. I don't think I'll have too much trouble getting $600-700 for it with the attachments and books. The other collection, with the MF 14, might go for more like $750-850.  Paul

Gave the carb a good cleaning, hooked up a battery and temporary gas tank, and she took right off. Runs very well and no smoke!
