Im scratching my head on this variable speed problem,My left foot pedal will creep down about 1/3 of its range and I pull it up and it creeps down again again.Iv had the variator out , I made sure it was clean and free and no slop or wobble like I have read about,I changed the both drive belts (and they were john deere belts) I just replace spring,iv read the manual over and over and with this symptom it say adjust the variator (yea right) I did the adjustment like it say,the only thing I didn't do was put graphite powder on the variator any suggestion would be great!!!

did you oil or grease the pivot bolt for the variator?
You might also try to oil or grease the clutch puddle ( people forget it).
I always tighten the nuts on the eye bolt so that I only have about an inch left on the thread adjustment.
Unless you have a new variator spring, than I start about setting the threads about half way on the eye bolt.
Also check your spring for the secondary belt to the transaxle. And also oil or grease the pivot for the secondary belt.
I try to oil or grease them at less once a year.
Put some powder graphic on the variator. I also put the graphic powder on at less once a year. More if needed.
hope this helps
