I saw this on c/l and looks like a decent tractor - Research says it is a smaller one from Bolens .

I know nothing about these , would this be a good thing to pick up . It is right here in town .

Any info you could add would help . I don't need another project right now ... but can't pass on good deals.

Looks very tidy and as it's local I would be tempted to view it at least.

As you are in the US, there are plenty of people who can supply you with what you need. Look at the sponsors on this site.

Good luck.

Vertical engine not for me. Looks more like Lawn Tractor and maybe this is when MTD owned the name?

G8 made in '73 to '78 approximately and powered by B&S 8hp engine, most certainly pre MTD ownership,

Yes , I heard this has the vertical engine and I think that I should pass . Post 1970 also is sort of a turn off for me as well .

Only reason to get it would be to repair and sell it. It looks to be in pretty good shape.

This one is an early 73/74 G8

These were Bolens Lawn tractors designed for people who had smaller yards and did not want to spend the big bucks for the Garden Tractor line.

Dont let their size fool you they are still better than any LT made today

I grade my 1/4 mile long driveway a few times a year with my 770. Does a good job doing it too. This thing will out last any new LT on the market. Its 50 years old this year...I think I made my point on the old LTs.
