this is just a thought, i am not picking what so ever Just can not see through your drive line setup for forward drive direction
this is stressing me some , have you checked the engine rotation direction compared to the forward gear rotation of the g/box and diff
,
from what i see you will have 4 reverse and 1 forward maybe as you turned the engine around and that changes the shaft direction on the engine drive
the air fins on the flywheel indicate the direction of rotation of the engine , unless i'm wrong and the engine is set up rotational different to briggs & such or the diff turns in the opposite direction to the diffs over here in australia
the build is awesome though a lot of time and effort gone into it so far , be a pride & joy when finished

Thanks man! Ha now you've got me wondering.. I know I triple checked the rotation before I put the motor in rotated. The rear end of the tractor is upside down from how it was in the donor car. So the pinion is reversed...
Of course now I want to put a jack under the differential and confirm again. LOL.

just how i saw it from standard setup rotations was all , i did not realise you rolled the diff though ,i missed the build thread as i have been working 7 days a week , but loved the catch up on it

That was a good question.

I'm also adding a tachometer to my cluster. Given then don't make one for a lawn mower motor I'm creating an interface box using an arduino. It will read an IR light reflection and output a v8 tach sense signal for a standard automotive tachometer.

I want to see how this tach works!

I will be sure to post up something soon.
After looking at my pictures I'm wondering if I should just use a hall effect sensor instead and pick up the magnets in the flywheel. Why make things more complex?
Still goes into the Arduino and then out to an automotive tach.. but instead of using IR I just use a magnetic switch.
I want to see how this tach works!

They sell 1 and 2 cylinder induction tachs for motorcycles that will work on GTs. I have also seen a small digital tach/ hour meter for tractors/ gts. Not crazy about them. They are powered by an internal battery that only lasts a few years. It is replaceable but the timer goes back to 0 when you do that

Have a fix for that. Already have some wider wheels and 10" wide lug tires.

Ya I want to stick with the Bosch white on chrome theme for all the gauges. So the interface box should do the trick.
