So out of curiosity without derailing this thread.. why such a large hood area if the motor hangs off the back?

The tractor was built to the rough size specs of a 24G Gravely. On that tractor, the hood area houses the large gas tank, hydraulics tank, pump and battery. On this it houses the gas tank, battery and steering linkage. It was worked backwards from the aesthetics more than anything.

Not a bad couple hours. I cut off the old brackets and inlet sleeves on the mufflers. Then welded in new inlets. I then tacked the 2 pieces of the stretched u-bend together and then mocked them up. May end up tweaking the down angle a bit but it's damn close. Also cut some plate for new 2 point muffler to frame mounts.

I want to hear this run. Put the mike right down there at the end of the muffler! Those are some cool mufflers!

Looks nice - are you going to use mechanical linkage or hydraulic cylinder for steering? The reason I ask is that the right hand muffle may be in the road of a drag link if you are going with mechanical.

It's not as close as it looks. Lol.
But to answer it will be the mechanical center steer setup like the panzer had oe.

Thanks man. I'm going to take a cutoff wheel to the top 90 joint and allow the pipes to drop straight down instead of tip out towards the front. The U-bend is actually a perfect 90/90, but the manifold outlet sends the pipes up at a couple degree angle...

Looking at the steering setup I am thinking that when you turn the steering wheel to the left the front wheels are going to turn to the right or am I missing something?

The reason I asked was my dad encountered a steering set up that he thought would work perfectly to update a 29 Chevrolet car many years ago - got it all hooked up and found out that when he turned the wheel one way the car would go in the opposite direction - very confusing. He ended up using another steering box set up to have it work the correct way and it was a learning experience for me. Can you rotate the bottom gear 180 degrees and then make a new mount for the shaft - just a suggestion?
