I just bought a Snapper 1855 (or maybe 1855A).  I was looking around online and was wondering what the differences are between the two.  I see the 1855A weighs more, but why is that?  Does anyone happen to know?  Thanks in advance.

That's a very good question, as far as I know. The difference between the 1855 and 1855a was the "a" had 3pth and rear PTO. But you could order a plain 1855 with both options. Not much help, but good luck.

Thanks for the fast reply, limebuzz.  That would make sense considering the 100 something pound difference between the two.

Yep only difference between the two is the 3pth and the rear PTO. The 1855a has them from the factory and the 1855 doesnt. The 1855 has all the holes in the frame for mounting a 3pth and the rear pto. So you can make the 1855 into an 1855a by just bolting on the 3pth and running the hydraulic lines. The 1855 should have the hydraulic spool for  the 3pth installed next to the spool for the midmount. The 3pth spool doesnt have the lever in it ,but the spool should be there.

Thanks for clearing this up.  I think that mystery has been solved.
