I wrote all my info down on a PCLOS forum so that when I had a rainy nite I could get back to it.

They were step by step, well thought out and literate and it was the only place I put them

and now theyre gone.

PCLINUXOS.com seems to have evaporated and it's forum with it

I'll wait a day or two.  maybe it'll be back.

if not, the frustration of installing a brother printer on this POS computer will start all over.

almost worth buying an HP just so the software is more easilly installed.

Grandpa has Brother printers. If I recall I had to go onto the Brother website to download a driver to make the first one work on his Windows XP and probably did the same when he bought a newer Brother printer.

Brothers printers have always required a little extra care to get them running.

I have spent more time fighting HP stuff than I care to admit.  My Brother unit has not been a problem but it is a wired network unit.  Hmm...

PCLOS is up and running at least right now.  I thought you had the printer up and running?    HP has been pretty much a piece of cake for me.  I just install the HP Device manager and that is it.  When the wife got an new 3 in 1 HP printer I did have to get the latest version from HP but that is the only issue I have had in a very long time.

When I first started in Linux it was an issue to get devices working. But now it really isn't to hard.

Had it running, but after the updates, wine stopped allowing installations.

Started over and got the printer working and also the program I need, installed
Now I will attempt to do updates when I feel like it

It was the next day before the forum came back up. I was convinced it was down for good.
  • KennyP said thank you
