hi guys i did the bench test on my starter generator when i ground the f terminal to the case the starter generator spins faster should i just replace the starter generator

Yes I would think it needs rebuilt or replaced.

well i retested the starter generator and it is not the starter generator so now i need ideas as too why i only here the starter relay click have the battery on the charger to see if that might be the problem any other ideas as what to check

Sounds like a bad connection at the solenoid or it is bad.

I can here the starter relay click but the starter generator turning

Put your battery directly to the starter/generator.  Positive to the large terminal and then touch the negative to the mounting ear or other frame part.  If it arcs and don't spin you starter/generator is bad.  Don't ground out the F terminal as that is the charging part of the generator and not meant to be grounded.  Briefly touching it to ground, if it sparks the charging part is working if the unit is spinning.

Just because the solenoid clicks doesn't mean it's good, the one on my 108 would click all day long but not start the tractor. You will need to do some testing with a test light or preferably a volt meter, start at the key switch and work your way to the s/g until you find where you lose power.

Yes it sparks and slows down when I touch the ground so I assume its good and yes it spins when hooked up to the battery




Top
