Blew the coil on the Bolens 800 today

Brian:

Do you have the Service Bulletin about how to adjust the rear axle end-play?

I'd start there, as you do not have to take the cover off to set the end-play.

Ok, I took the cover off and looked for anything that looked out of place such as stripped gears ect... The gears look good and the clutch is not slipping.

I drove it around with the cover off the tranny and watched to see if anything looked like it was the problem. It really starts jerking when you make sharp turns ... Good thing the safety police were not around LOL
Seems like the worm may be out of adjustment.
I have the service manual by my side so I will let you know what happens in a few hours.....

well, after many numerous adjustments to the rear axle and worm drive, it still was jerking no matter what I did to it.
Finally I had enough and just put in another 3 speed tranny

I'm not going to give up on the other tranny though. I'm determined to fix it even if I have to tear the whole thing apart

I got that new tranny in and got the rest of the grass cut LOL :D
