I was able to get the size 4.00 x 12 tires/rims off the tractor this weekend. They are very heavy. I am assuming that these are the cast iron rims as they are the two piece variety. I do need to get the one empty of the fluid that is in it prior to taking the tire off and separating the rims. It also looks like the fluid has leaked out over time.

Was that a common practice back in the day to fill the tires prior to purchasing the tractor?

Yes, those are cast rims. Bolens was good for selling tractors with the tires preloaded.

:ditto:   I don't think you find many bolens rims that size not loaded.

even more you don't find many that don't have some damage to them from the filling and leaking out.
