Hello, Goodyear?  Yes, I've decided I'll take the mud and snows after all.

Saw photos of that 50 car pile up in Pa. 3 dead and 36 injured the news said.   Had plenty of warning that the storm was coming.  Why do people think they HAVE to be on the roads in those conditions??  So they can blame DOT for not having the roads clear for them??

Two weeks ago we got 8-10" of snow in Minneapolis. It started snowing at noon on Monday, and was mostly done by 6 am the next day. It doubled the afternoon drive home on Monday. No big deal. The next morning the roads were clear of snow, but had a nicely polished layer of ice on it. The first stretch of Interstate I drive on had 5 vehicles ditched due to spinouts. Little too much confidence, I guess?

As I neared downtown, there is a 1/2 mile stretch that is a decent uphill incline before you start the 3/4 descent into the Lowry Hill tunnel. A minivan in front of me tried holding back from the car in front to get a run at that hill, but other vehicles kept taking the space he would leave. He didn't make the hill. He even kept gunning it and spinning his worthless tires so that he ended up sliding over to the right lane, facing backwards, and slid down the hill half in the right lane and half on the shoulder. Traffic was nearly bumper to bumper at a crawl, and he never came close to any other cars.

I just don't understand multiple car pileups. Do you guys have that many Floridians touring around over there?

That accident yesterday on 80 was bad. Relatively easy to mindset for the storm, but what got them was a sudden whiteout condition.
Wind picked up a bunch of the morning's snow and painted the air white.
Ryan's GF was supposed to be on that road about that time, but they happened to take another route.

That pileup was on I78, not 80, I am familiar with the area, Bethel township, just past the east side of Pine Grove Mountain.
