Looking at removing front spindles and it appears a roll pin is used to hold the cap in place.  It also appears the roll pin goes into a blind hole.  I don't know if the other side is just filled in with a lot of paint/debris or if it's really a blind hole.  Find it hard to believe it's a blind hole, but you never know.  If someone can confirm either way, could save me a lot of grief removing them.   Thanks in advance for the help!

It should be a set screw. There is the axle hole with cotter pin.

Yeah - Chris is right. Should be a set screw. If you've got a roll pin jammed in there, my guess is somebody stripped the threads (it's an aluminum cap) and tried to use a roll pin instead. Try getting an allen wrench to go in there (forgot what size). Maybe it's not really a roll pin.
