Throttle cable ends with double Z shape, hard to make. There is a special tool for those. One on epay right now by a Bolen's dude. Anyone from here? Not sure how it works, would need instructions.
Also, on many late model twins, Briggs and Kohler are rod links in the throttle and choke control areas that need to be bent to adjust speeds. Again there is a special tool with slot in end, goes over the rod, then you twist or turn L-shaped or screw-driver type handle to bend that. It is also a Z shape or close but a little heavier rod then. Very hard to get pliers in there that will grab w/out slipping and just plain hard to reach when all assembled.
SO, where does one find these tools to buy? Will Briggs or Kohler sell to anyone or need to be dealer/service place? I'm sure that an aftermarket brand would be cheaper if they were made. Anyone have these and or know where to get?
Ok, works. Same as one I saw. Would need instructions, don't get how just lookin'. Willy's link same tool AND another I get how works, I think anyway. Much more $$, but one step, no odd holding then.

I have a tool that is like a wire cutter. It puts a good "Z" in wires. I picked it up at a fleamarket 30 years ago. I have seen boxes of small engine tools many times at fleamarkets. I have all that I need so I don't look close anymore. I believe mine is the same as in the B&S Manual and in the NAPA catalog. Mine is simple. Put the wire in into the slot and squeeze the handles. Good Luck, Rick
are you talking about the 90 degree bends on the cable to hook to the speed control or throttle. I always do it this way put a vise grip on the cable and make the bends with a needle nose pliers. always worked for me
I never seen that tool before guess I should pick one up
I got one from Brian and would break the guys arm that tried to steel it. Works real good , even on the heavier center wire. Better and quicker than trying with a needle nose.
Wires are springy and hard to hold and/or bend w/out slipping out of pliers. Then when trying to use thinner part of needle nose, they aren't strong enough. Saw a home made one long ago, had hole in reg pliers jaw to slip in wire and just had to squeeze and it formed. THAT's what I want, easy! Old man now, not as handy at holding things as when younger. That's my story, and sticking to it! :ah_shoot:
Everyone has had good experiences with them so far and definietly better than needle nose and alot faster, once you get the hang of it you can get a z bend in 5 seconds.
There is also a heavy duty model but no one has wanted to buy one yet due to price ... actually it looks like they obsoleted it in my 2016 products lists :wallbanging:
If you need any other tools I have alot of the common stuff like ring compressors ect. instock and try and get USA made stuff when possible.
There is a company out of the UK that sells throttle cable kits and clutch cable kits, great to work with, they also sell the tool your looking for I think the name is venhilldirect.
I am not a fan of one dimensional tools which explains why I don't have a 10' long hemi powered tool cabinet but having had to bend the numerous throttle cables over the years i think I have room in my pliers drawer for a $14 cable bender.
Yes that is me selling the ones on ebay
