About a week ago I installed Linux Ubuntu on my computer.  I was not happy at all with it so did a manual uninstall.   I use a screen saver as the granddaughter loves to sit and look at all the different photos.  Several times when I came to use the computer I noticed that a couple of the photos were sideways.  Never thought much about it till this afternoon.  Got to watching the photos and about 80% of them are now turned sideways, but not all rotated the same way. Some clockwise, others counter clockwise.  Anyone run into this before?  It is going to be a pain to go back through and get all the photos right side up again.  Thanks Linux.

Not certain It'd be Linux, but I guess It could be.

As like as not, something (linux or MS) is misreading the metadata that orients the pic.

Once in a while my Apple and PC disagree on orientation

Most modern cameras have a rotation sensor which writes an orientation EXIF tag into the file to tell your software how to turn the photo for display. However, there are some situations in which your photo will not be rotated properly and will display sideways.

Some software does not utilize the orientation tag written by the camera.

Check this page for some more options.
