We are right on the Southern edge of the big snow storm going through the Midwest.  Getting light to moderate snow with 30 mph winds out of the E and NE.  Hard to tell the amount of snow with the wind but is not much.  Visability is about 1/4 mile out here in the country.  Keeps changing between snow and sleet.  Later this afternoon a chance of more snow and possibly rain mixed in.  The ground did not get a chance to freeze up before this started early this morning so going to be a muddy mess to get anything done.  Feel sorry for the guys, like my neighbor that has several hundred head of stock cows and feeder calves to feed.  Will probably wait till later when the snow slows down as the cattle won't eat till then anyway.  With 2 big feeder wagons and one loader at the sileage pit it will be at least a 6-7 hour job.   Our few animals are inside so heading down to take care of them shortly.

They have us listed for thunderstorms. I'd love a good thunderstorm

Hi;
It has been snowing here since about 10:30 am and coming down about an inch an hour more or less. Visibility deteriorated rapidly. The roads are snow packed and slick. The northeast wind is putting the snow in a different pattern than normal. It could be interesting by tomorrow morning. Schools are closed and businesses are shutting down. Glad I went home early.

The view out my front and back doors 2 pm

For a week now the weather man been building up this blizzard for today.  Had the potential to be the big one.  I tried not to rub in to those in the northeast about their snow last week because I figured payback would be h3ll.  About 4 days ago weatherman started back peddling saying it "could" miss us.

I drove to work this morning in a pretty hard rain about 6:30am and drove almost to St. Louis in rain,  but when I got back to town and off work at 3pm the sun was out and its 60 degrees.

MY KIND OF BLIZZARD!!!!   :smilewink:

Now my companies sister locations in Iowa and Nebraska are shut down from the weather - so its not too far away....  Here is the view of the "snowpocalypse" from up on my hill.  ENJOY!!

blezzard.jpg ,bleezard 1.jpg

First pic looks southeast at one of my closest neighbors.  If I still had a land line it would be "long distance" to call him.  [no joke]  You can see a couple vehicles on the highway - they don't appear to be having any trouble traversing the snow.  :poke:

Second pic looks southwest.  Some puffy clouds that wouldn't be fun to fly through.  Too windy to fly today anyhow.

If I had pics of northeast and/or northwest from here all you'd see is a hedgerow so I skipped those.

It is terrible windy - kinda like me....   :toilethead:   :bs:

we got a bunch of sleet early in the am, then it rained, and boomered for a while, then it warmed up and didn't do another thing. So now I got lots  of water on the mud I already had. I suppose next the rivers will be out....again.

That must be the same storm that is supposed to hit us tonight. The weather guessers say it could be wet snow, freezing rain or rain. Possibly starting with snow and progressing to rain as things warm up. We are supposed to have a high +9C (48F) tomorrow. Jobsite was a mud pit on Monday, we were at a different site today, back to the mud tomorrow, but at least it will be warm..

We are also on the north edge. The snow was supposed to be around an inch but i would say about 3-4 has fallen with some very light flurries still. Had a little wind with it mid-day but that didn't last too long for once! All in all not bad up here. My sisters in the Denver, CO area said they've got a foot or more with a couple more inches expected but not a lot of wind there either. Hope everyone in the worst of it rides it out ok.
