Better a plastic gear than a starter motor or a flywheel what I always say.....

I had to do a double take lol (house full of wild kids in their natural habitat) I usually keep a stock of those gears I'm so used to being Called out to fix them I have done so with no light by feel lol. Lock tite the bolts for the starter if you did remove it they've sometime rattled loose and created another stripped gear.

Don't think it was the high cca battery, rather old nylon. Tractor was only rode last weekend, but has ben started several times with no issues. I am glad this didn't happen 5 miles down the road. I should know more tomorrow.

I have two other Craftsman's (Hulk II) and (RED) with the same batteries. They are Daily Use Machines, no Issues after I replaced their starter gears with new ones.

It's a blessing and a curse....like kids lol.....if you use metal sometimes other things get damaged instead......but if you do use plastic......they strip quicker than a 2yo who finds streaking the entire house.....Yard ect to be soooo funny.....meanwhile your chasing them feeling oh so not funny while the neighbors watch lol

Just saw this thread. Beautiful restore and great job. Been looking for a set of AG lug tires like you have on your green tractor for my Craftsman II. Been looking for ones with square shoulder like that. What brand size are they?

Tires are from Miller Tire.
Front - 16x6.50X8 Kenda Terra Trac 4 ply
Rear - 23X10.50X12 Kenda Terra Trac 4 ply

One caution, Any additional weight on the front like a snow blade will make turning difficult, these tires are grippy!

Well there's the problem! I found a gear that was in good shape off a donor starter. Plan on a 2 hour job and a lot of patience, that back bolt is a pain to remove, and worse to put back in. BOH fires right up again!

Yeah had those terra tracs on the old LGT 145 I had, I meant the Ag lug tires you had on the back of your green Craftsman, in the background of your pics...?
