I wasn't  born yet (I was born in 1990), but remember the Columbia's fateful last flight years later.

I was under a dump truck installing a clutch. Had the tv on in the shop, when I herd what happened. Got up and watched the scene unfolding. Hard to believe that 30 years have passed already.

I am getting old, fast....

At work and thankfully didn't see happen.

Next time I get in a discussion about somebody wanting to "cut corners" at work I'll try to remember to use this story.

This could be a life saving idea.

I was in high-school. I was in the morning class at Vo-tech. They made the announcement and told us about it happening, but didn't grasp the reality till we got back to our parent school and it was on the TVs income rooms.

I had just started my career.  I was 21.  I still remember seeing the debris slowly coming back to earth on the live shot.

Since then, I've retired from one job, had a few others and gone back to work full time.  I remember seeing all those lost on that mission.  I wonder what they would have done had it not failed.

Y'all are a bunch of younguns. I was in my upholstery shop, went to the bathroom, as I walked into the showroom I saw the puff of smoke...
I also remember the Columbia disaster. I was doing my Saturday morning internet surf when I saw it on breaking news.

I was in Calgary, Alberta making sales calls. Heard the report on the radio and went back to my hotel room at the Marlborough to watch the news. Stayed glued to the reruns all day.

I was 4 and sitting on the floor playing with either construx or legos. It is the first tragedy I remember. Weird how they stick with you.

I also teach QA for the Navy and in the front of the JFMM, it is one of the three stories for why QA exists in the Navy. It truly is sad that a 90 cent o-ring did that.
