If you dont have one already here's a great manual for the Older briggs

http://gardentractor...ines-1919-1981/

Its available in hard copy from B&S but its about $70

Is this valve guide plug tool hard to find (#19151)? if so is there another way to check the valve guide?

I got the tool to check the valve guide ordered from doc. I went up to the barn this morning and used my $50 tap I bought to fix the threads on the CC 102 and chased the threads on the exhaust.

I would be hesitant to replace the original governor. I would be more apt to replace the governor lever than the gear. The original governors were steel and the new replacements are plastic. I have not seen a failed steel governor in any of my Briggs but I have seen failed plastic gears.

I am going to rebuild this one since the new one has more problems. I got the crankcase breather, breather tube and headgasket in today from Doc. I'm waiting on some money so I can get the rest of the parts.

Started up today but I only ran in for a second since I didn't have the new muffler on. The carb is leaking and the oil pan gasket seems to be too just a tiny bit.
