They obviously want people to not fix the old stuff and buy new.

I believe that is the grand plan!!

It would have been nice if it had 1" 15t spline instead of a 7/8 13t which is an odd ball . I sealed mine up good and put a special gearbox oil in it we have at work. It's synthetic and made for high pressure applications and its sticky stuff too, so it clings well. Should make it last longer . if it fails for some reason I will make one!!

Prices like that make building a loader attractive! I have a blower for my 318,but have not mounted it since I got the Ford 1500 with rear blade. My experience with a blower is you usually get more snow on you than in the pile.

That's another reason why I hate Sears. First reason is piss poor customer service. I walked in for a pulley (4" diameter 1/2" wide 3/4" bore) and the moron there said "I'm sorry I need a part number so I don't get you the wrong part"... So I went to the cub cadet dealer. I love Rosalyn service!

Yes, I have had similar response trying to get replacements at sears. Power saws (cheaper to get another at a garage sale for the switch I needed) tractor and appliance parts ( just as you say, either way over value or simply "sorry not available") and  more recently i took in a broken "guaranteed for ever" wrench that had succumbed...They were willing to order me one and call me when it comes in (45 mile drive each way) when they had 16 (yes sixteen) of them hanging on display. :mad2:  Not the Sears that my father used to take me to growing up where he was treated with respect and everything was magical to a young boy.

I rebuilt mine so I don't need another but if someone else does that's a good price.

Great googly-moogly. I could put a new engine in my truck and buy a new snowblower for that kind of scratch. Now I see why I'm seeing so many practically being given away.

On the upside, one of those giveaway snow blowers could be modded to ride on the back of the tractor like a tiller. Then I could remove the weights and keep the blade up front. Hmm. I think I'll check craigslist.
