Love that sound

Thanks!

They sound so much better than the disposable engines that they make nowadays.

Picked up the driveshaft from the machinist again today.  I had him weld up the short shaft to the backside of the engine coupler.

I also had him switch out the rag joint coupler pin with a bolt.  He had to turn down the bolt and thread the coupler.  So far he's only charged me $40.

The driveline fit perfectly into place and installs quickly.  I was also able to switch the fan around by simply removing the yoke retaining bolts.

There seams to be virtually no vibration from the new driveshaft because it felt the same without the driveline vs. with the driveline.  The old one shook the whole tractor.

With the new driveline in place I installed a seat (I still need to find a new one) and drove it around.  The steering was nice and tight and the brakes actually brake compared to what it was like before.  I was surprised how fast it was when I put it in full forward.  I seemed a lot faster than my zero turn which has a max speed of 9 mph.

I still have more painting to do before I can install everything else.

Yep, the best part was none of the tires fell off and the engine didn't blow up.

I tried to get the fel cylinders and bucket painted today but the prep took longer than expected (a 2 hour nap didn't help me get it done either :D ).  I did get the parts cleaned and primed so I should be able to paint them on Monday after work.

Finally got the fel cylinders and bucket painted tonight.  Should be able to install it tomorrow.

I don't think the paint on the bucket will last very long!  I plan on using it a lot!

I attached the fel arms, cylinders, and bucket tonight.  All of the holes lined up without any problems.

My son also sat behind the wheel and made tractors noises while I was working on it.  It was fun to see him do that.  I never ever did that as a kid! :smilewink:

Question?  Does a pin go through this hole in the lift to make the sleeve hitch move?

Looking real good!

Thanks Kenny!

I figure another week and I should be done!

The painting keeps taking so much time, but you probably already know that.

Prepared some more metal for paint.  The parts on the left hold the hose in place for the fel.  Next to them is the fel pump.  The tunnel cover and the cast iron grill housing finish off the right end.

I ordered some Wix filters for the tractor as well.  I ordered 51551 for the fel and a 51410 for the hydrostatic transmission.

Mark the hole for the pin/lift is to lock in the lift...so it will not float for the mowing deck, front or rear mounted implements. I use mine without the pin most of the time. Very good progress my friend! And thank you for becoming a GTtalk supporter~

Are you going to install a new decal kit for your tractor? Be advised the kits available on the web the color blue may be too dark like I have on my 1250. But on request Maple-Hunter Texas will do a color called "cyan blue" which is close to correct shade of blue. You MUST ask for it or you will get his in stock/in house darker shade of blue kit. I realize there is less blue in the 1X8 1X9 series (includes your 149) than the Quietline series. I also have the same kit from Maple-Hunter on my 149 as well...but still the blue is too dark than OEM.
