I was finally was able to start working on my tractor again.  It was 82 degrees today so I was able to get some more painting done.  I was also finally able to get the fender on the tractor.

Started assembling the dash tonight.  It took me a while to remember how things went back together but I slowly got it back together.

I've decided to replace all of the rusted bolts and nuts with stainless versions.  I'm not going to paint them which will save a lot of time.

I haven't attached the dash yet but I wanted to see what it would look like!

Happy with how it turning out so far!

I usually make a list of what bolts I'm tearing off when I take a tractor apart, and buy all new to put it together also.

Looking good.

What did you do with all them old bolts?  I know some guys that would probably take them if they are the original IH or WP headed bolts.  They have them re-anodized to original and use them over if they are still good.

Took advantage of the nice weather today and sand blasted the mounting brackets for the fel.  Found a tag under the paint that I hadn't seen.  Unfortunately, the sand blaster removed some of the paint from the tag before I noticed it.

I also finished up a lot of the dash but forgot to take pictures to show you what it looks like.  Should be able to get the motor in this week and hopefully start on my driveshaft upgrade that I talked about towards the beginning of this post.  I should also be able to get most of the fel painted.

It's getting closer!!

Worked on the tractor after dinner.  Tried to find my steering wheel nut but I couldn't find it.  I can't even remember what it looks like.  I'll have to look some more tomorrow.

I also put the engine in the tractor for the first time in 3 months.

I sure like the way that it looks!  I'm starting to get anxious!

I've been working on the motor tonight.  I need to have the motor in place so that I can measure for my driveline upgrade.  Here is the link to the directions for the driveline modification.

http://cubfaq.com/DK%20IHCCmods.pdf

Here are some pictures of the parts I'll be using.

I'll start the engine when I finish with the driveline instillation because the gas tank will be in the way.  Here is what the engine looks like tonight.

I'll install the fel brackets when I get the motor running.  It's a lot easier to work on the motor with the fel removed.

After a busy day cleaning the outside of the house I finally was able to get out to the shop and work on the tractor.  Started with installing the support brackets for the FEL.  The brackets are installed with two long bolts around the axle tubes

20160416_224555.jpg 20160416_224611.jpg

and three bolts on the front frame.  They use the Frankenstein bolts as one of the attachment points.

20160416_224624.jpg

The third bolt(right) bolts from under the front axle similar to how the engine mounting bolts.

20160416_224724.jpg

It keeps looking better and better every time!

20160416_225208.jpg 20160416_225237.jpg

I also sprayed a coat of paint on the gas tank and mounting straps.

20160416_233138.jpg

I tested the starter as well today but all I got was a load click from the starting solenoid.  I made sure the grounding cable was on the starter, battery was fully charged, and my grounding cable at the battery and front frame were contacting clean, unpainted metal.  I'll have to figure that one out on another day.

I took my driveshaft and upgrade parts to a machinist friend of my father-in-laws.  He has a nice milling machine and lathe to get every in working order.  He said he would have it done with in the next week.  I'm anxious to see how everything will turns out.

I had a solenoid on my 108 that would only click and it turned out to be burnt contacts inside the solenoid.

It's possible that during my painting process, I hit the solenoid on something that could have damaged it.  I haven't had time yet to look at it.  I'm going to try tonight.
