Ice auger and Tecumseh 3hp question. My BIL inherited his dads vintage Jiffy Ice auger. It has a Tecumseh 3hp two stroke motor. Same old story, ran when last used ( !!! ??? ) and put away probably 20+ years ago. I can't find any thing on the motor and what the air box for the carb should look like. It is missing I can't find a parts diagram or owners or repair manual either. I was hoping someone here would have some info for me on this auger and most importantly the motor. I didn't get a picture of it but I borrowed one from the net to give an idea. It has good compression and spark. Probably hasn't has fuel in it for 20+ years either. Any help you guys could give would be appreciated. Thanks. Roger

Lots of winter rigs like blowers didn't have filters. Guess they figured less dusty in winter? Maybe none for it, I'm saying.

This thing is ooooold Like me . It doesn't have replaceable blades on the auger either. I've been all over the internet and haven't found anything. Just have to keep looking. It has a handle over the top of the recoil and a single handle off the side.  Thanks for the time guys. I will update later if and when I find something.

Roger.

Hi Roger, in the jiffy 30 series manual you'll find the adress to aks the jiffy-guys. it seems, the manual is from 2008 and the guys on http://www.jiffy-on-ice.com/ are still alive.

Well, my BIL found a manual on line and printed it off. Owners as well as a service / repair. He has cleaned the carb, replaced the nut on top of the flywheel ( because it was running against the recoil starter) should of been a half nut.. Cleaned and adjusted the points and ordered new ones. Has spark now but still will not start. He is going to work on it some more and will get it going later this week. He wants to cut off the end of the auger and replace it with the end off his hand auger. The teeth and blade are not replaceable and he thinks we can't sharpen it enough to make it work. I think we can.  Thanks for all the help and info. I will take some pictures and let you guys know how it turns out. We have narrowed it down to a 1978 or 1979 model.                                                        Roger
