Been wondering what this means for awhile. Maybe it is a dumb question and the answer is simple but I have over looked it. But why do the later 80s craftsman tractors have a number after the craftsman name , for example craftsman II. And craftsman III. What does it mean?

Sadly, I do not have ALL the answers! And some I do have may not be correct!

Sounds logical! So the Craftsman III is an 'also'!

I think marketing move. Makes it sound like an all new system or such and is the best you can buy and etc. Could have been a diff brand making that tractor line for the time. New features not on the older ones?  Bigger horsepowers or twins instead of singles, those kinda things.

GL, I think you are right as those were the early AYP built tractors.

Craftsman II = 2 year warranty. Craftsman III = 3 year warranty
