I picked this up on Craigslist awhile back. The owner was cleaning out an old barn for an elderly lady & she gave it to him for scrap. She said her late husband died several years ago & its just been sitting. Very dirty with the good ole barn dust, no spark & the starter rope never re winded itself. He wanted $100. & was very upset about the rope hanging out & no spark along with not knowing anything about it. Running or not I would have given him his asking price but I offered him $50. & he jumped all over it.
The rope was just a matter of cleaning & rewinding the rope properly, a new coil fixed the no spark. I had to do the usual tank & carb clean. The sight glass filter bowl looked like muddy water. Started on the second pull. The 8hp Briggs sounds very solid with no smoke at all. I love these old tillers, their very rugged.
