1948 Baird Beaver, manufactured in Stratford, CT. This is the first year of the Beaver with total production at 527 machines. This is serial number 447. 1948 is the most collectible, as it was the only year of the hand clutch (vs. later foot clutch). Notable features for this particular tractor is the 4 lug, flat style, split rims in the rear with 5x12s (needs rear rubber), early two piece front rims, solid belt guard, perfect cast pulley guard (which are always missing), and rear implement lift. The motor is tight. I don't know if it's rings or a stuck exhaust valve. The prior owner claims it was running when he parked it in his basement in 1986. We pulled it out of his basement with his late model Cub Cadet. The orange is interesting to me because no Beavers were known to be orange. The Beaver script though on the belt guard appears to have weathered away without trace of gray underneath. I suppose in 67 years anything is possible. Tractor is located in Rocky Hill, CT. Asking $550 obo. I have another Wisconsin motor on the shelf that is complete and I have seen run about 8 years ago that I will include in the deal for a total price of $600.

Looking to purchase a 1948 Baird Beaver Riding Tractor. Intact, original equipment, and restorable is more important than running at this point in time.  My grandfather owned one that I used to mow and plow with and I would like to find one for my son that just bought his first piece of land.  Thank you.  Kevin in Connecticut.
