Thanks Bill.  Looks like I need to get a USB drive to start with.  Will have to run those videos between midnight and 8 am or will be out of bandwidth in a couple days.  Videos are great but you need unlimited bandwidth to run them.  Keep It Simple Make It Fun went out the window.

Perhaps watching some of these video's would help you to understand what is being asked.  Here are a set of video's from the ask mr wizard website that may be of help.

Fairly well put together videos.  None of them had any of the screen that I run in to.  Will have to copy down the screes verbatim so some one can see what I am seeing.  Will add that on her at a later time.

I haven't a computer that I want Linux along side a Windows (dual boot) yet, so I don't know those screens.

Kenny; I predict the way you are going before long you will be using Linux only and eventually be quite good at it.  You have done quite well so far.

Had a couple hours before the game so decided to try and load Ubuntu once again.  Don't know what happened but did not get any of the screens I got before.  The installation along side Windows went real smooth.  Seems to be working ok.   Is there a way to "Bookmark" a web site so I don't have to enter the url every time.  I know Linux don't use any of windows terms but don't know what else to call it besides bookmarks.

You bookmark a site the same way you do in windows.  A lot of the terms are the same weather in Windows or Linux especially when it comes to the web.  So if you were using FF in windows and have FF installed on Linux you use it exactly the same.  In fact if you use the sync option for either FF or Chrome in windows then when you are in Linux the browser will have the same bookmarks, plugins and themes as you do in Windows but both sides have to have Sync turned on.

Thanks Kenny but that didn't tell me squat.  I am not computer expert that knows 90% of what there is to know about this stuff.  I have concluded that there is no way the average person can ever operate an OS like this without a couple years of classes.  Not about to go that route.  About time to pull the plug.

Well, looks like Linux has taken over my computer.  Cannot get back to windows now.  When I try to shut down and restart it alwasy goes to Ubuntu.  Don't have an option or chance for a choice.  Just what I always wanted. :wallbanging:  :wallbanging:  :shoot2:   :mad2:  :mad2:  :mad2:

I finally go back to Windows.  Had just a second or 2 to push the down arrow 3 times and hit enter before ti started to boot Ubuntu again.  At least I am back where I can do something.

Next question, and may be the last for a while.  Need a long break from this stuff.

How do I uninstall Ubuntu?

I don't really want a fight on my hands every time we turn the computer on.  Nothing on the CD about uninstall that I found.

Found the USB cable to my 111 GB external hard drive.  Next time I do an install on any Linux Distro I want to put it on that drive.  The will keep it completely separate from my Windows system.  How is that accomplished like with Mint or Peppermint?

Got my pclinx full monty loaded on a 2 TB portable hard drive and am using it now, wow! It comes with lots of software. There is so much to try out, I know there is the equivalent of ccleaner but I have not found it yet. Real nice not to have a virus program since there is not much out there yet to harm linux.

Do yourself a favor and don't try to do all the updates at once.
My synaptic literally had a verve us breakdown.

Rumor has it that there is an authorized new version of FM in the pipeline. If your a member of any forums, might mention it would be nice to have and give any existing releases that do exist some traction
