Brian, you can check around for plating shops. My one buddy who restores larger farm tractors and old tractor trailers takes his stuff out to a plater in Pittsburgh and if I remember right it didn't cost him but around $80 for a 2' long exhaust piece to have done.

I would try my luck with some of the chrome cleaners that are available, you would be surprised at how well they work. Granted it isn't going to take any pitting out of them and they still won't be perfect but they would be cleaned up well enough to put on one of your Bolens in it's original condition.
