I got an axle bushing made for my Model D. Does anybody know if the axle needs to be removed to replace it or can it be tapped in around the axle? #48 in the pic

I would think it would have to come apart. How are you going to get the old one out? If the old one was out, you might be able to do it. The bushing should be a press fit into the housing. Sometimes you have to ream or hone a bushing to get the axle to fit because the bushing shrinks a bit when it's pressed in.

He said number 48 in his post. He has the one circled in the diagram.

Also, I got it by tapping it with a block of wood and a hammer

How did you get the old one out? Was it already gone?
