If you find you have a no spark issue, I just got a kit for my sears from overnight solutions and it was easy to install. I like it so much I am going to buying another one for my other sears. I found that with the overnight solution ignition kit that re-wiring the whole thing was going to be my best bet because I did not want to add a second toggle to put power to the coil. So I got a new ignition switch and a starter solenoid to by pass that. I just did a hand written schematic but its pretty much the same as they use in the older Simplicitys with the briggs cast iron engines. This one is a little different because the ignition switch is no longer grounded to the kill circuit , instead the ignition just cuts off power to the coil.

This does bring up an interesting point, If you miswire it... Bad things can happen. The cheaper fixes are north of $100, so be careful

There are lots of incorrect info out there. Do you have a link to the padt they say will work anddo you have a picture of the part you need toreplace?

There are other things that will cause no spark also. Its best usually to methodically test thru them.

Do a site search for tickle test and you will find many threads onthe issue.

It's not a spark issue. More of a old and dirty bad wires, not allowing power to get to starter. I hope lol

I'm also replacing the old brittle wires at the same time
