The hydraulic cylinder on my Speedex leaks a bit at the rod. I was planning to try and replace the seals this winter.
Looking at it though there are two places on the rod that look like they have pins or threaded rods in it. They are ground to match the rod and chromed but there is a definite groove around each. The one farthest from the eye sure looks like it must get clear up to the port when the cylinder is collapsed - meaning it passes the seal(s).
The more I look at it I can't believe it doesn't leak severely. I'd think it must leak around the groove when it's in the right position and I'd think it'd tear up a new seal.
The eye seems to be bored directly in the rod so they shouldn't be pins mounting a clevis or anything.
I'm wondering if I would be wasting my time with new seals and might even make it worse. Would appreciate a look at the pictures and any thoughts.
