Little rant here..I'm always ranting! But anyway.

Growing up I seen the original Rudolph, frosty and Grinch every Christmas. I have yet to see any of those played.

You older guys might remember when those were new! :poke:

Then the others. Garfield, Charlie Brown ect. Those were always played. Made during the 80s(I'm 31 so was a kid during the 80s and early 90s so some of guys might of watched them with your kids)

ABC family has played the crappy new Grinch and those terrible Tim Allen movies from the 90s and elf about 900 times this month.

Where are the "classics" at. Or at least my classics! I remember eatching these every year with my family up until the late 90s when I "outgrew them" I wanted to share those shows with my kids. I'll have to search for copies of them. I don't watch a lot of TV so I maybe im missing them. I only catch an hour or two a week.

I found Grinch and Rudolph on YouTube surprisingly.

I love cartoons, but since the kids grew up it's not so much now. But I love those old cartoons, and bugs bunny ones are my favorite, and still watch them. If I'm in a bad mood, I just turn on a bugs bunny cartoon, and no more bad mood. You tube is a great thing.

One big problem with U-Tube is it eats up bandwidth like crazy.  For that reason I stay away from it as much as possible.  Can't get DSL so Satellite is the best I can do.  All the stations are so afraid of being politically correct and don't want to offend anyone any more a lot of those "good ol days" show are going from the present day list.  Can get a boat load or Sponge Bob and Square Pants.  Same with the music.  Where are the good old country Christmas songs?

You are so right about politically correct! It is a sad day that we live in. I could stand on my soap box and go on about that forever with my daughters school.

I feel for you with the satellite internet. My one friend lives in a remote area and all he can get is satellite and its so limited in bandwidth that cant use YouTube..

Just read an article about some puts that is going around erecting rainbow poles at the sites of any religious holiday scenes! He says he is sticking it to the conservatives, I say bah hum bug! How come he can put up a symbol of his belief system even as offensive as it may be to me but I have to watch everything I say and do so I don't offend them? I am not sure I speak for everyone but the spirit of free speech has been distorted to only free if you are speaking for those nameless groups, and anything that sounds like an objection twords certain lifestyles which I will not mention is considered a crime. Oh how the world has changed, I sure miss the old ways! Look at me trying to watch everything I say as to not offend, took me five minutes reading it back to my wife just so I stay in the politically correct! Now that's how you rant! Eric.

Better watch it; or you'll get points. :poke:

I look at it this way; If you don't want my option then don't ask for it and don't get mad when I give it.

(you didn't ask, so I did not give it, but I agree with you)

BTW, love the old cartoons. I would not know if they have been on; since I gave up on TV about 2 years ago. NOVA and U-tube has more enlightening information than will ever be on regular TV again.

I guess they went with TOM & JERRY and THE BUGS BUNNY/ROADRUNNER HOUR, QUICK DRAW McGRAW and HOWDY DOWDY and all my old friends!

What about Deputy Dawg, Crusader Rabbit, Beaney and Cecil, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Commander Bleep, Yogi Bear, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, the Pink Panther, Tennese Tuxedo, and dozens of old cartoons from the 1920s and 1930s that are silent or black and white? The greatest cartoon was "Super Wabbit" with Bugs Bunny. A must see for Marines. A famous B29 bore that name too, after the cartoon came out.

My grandfather (born 1898) used to sit and watch cartoons with me in the 50s. He enjoyed them as much as I did. I saw all of the Charlie Brown specials as they came out. I think that the Christmas Special was 50 years old this year. The good cartoons(Disney and Warner Bros) were well drawn and 16 frames per second. Most others were 4 frames per second and used short cuts to save drawing. I have been lucky enough to find lots of old cartoons on VHS casettes at library book sales. Good Memories. Merry Christmas, Rick
